“I would have liked to stay” – Kimmich reluctantly leaves Germany squad after Greece defeat

Germany captain Joshua Kimmich has left the national team camp after a 1-0 defeat to Greece, despite admitting he preferred to stay for the remaining UEFA Nations League fixtures. Head coach Jürgen Klopp called up 44 players for his first international window, dividing them into two separate squads to rotate players across four matches.

Germany previously drew 1-1 with the Netherlands and lost 0-1 to Greece before rotating the roster. Although Klopp retained six players from the initial group for upcoming matches against Serbia and Greece, Kimmich was not selected to remain and will support the team from home.
