Niko Kovač hungry for more at Borussia Dortmund after signing new contract

Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovač has signed a new contract extension keeping him at the club until 2029. The 54-year-old manager, who took charge in February 2025, has won 35 of his 53 Bundesliga matches and holds the highest points-per-game average in the club's history. Following the extension, Kovač expressed strong optimism about the squad's development and their potential to push for major honors.

After Matchday 5 of the 2026/27 campaign, Dortmund sit two points ahead of Bayern Munich. Kovač praised his young squad, which features a strong defensive core alongside attacking partnerships including Serhou Guirassy and Fabio Silva, emphasizing that the team is not satisfied with past achievements and aims to continue its upward trajectory.
