Chris Davies has five senior players to choose from in Birmingham City's engine room

Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has detailed his tactical plans and rotational options across midfield following the return of several players from injury. Davies praised the tactical balance of his preferred double pivot, where Tomoki Iwata specializes on the right and £6m summer signing Jhon Solis operates on the left. Returning options Max Bird, Taylor Gardner-Hickman, and Paik Seung-ho are set to provide varied tactical solutions.
Davies noted that Bird offers intelligent positioning and goal threat from deep, while Gardner-Hickman provides extensive versatility across multiple positions. Although Iwata remains a critical player, Davies confirmed the midfielder plans to return to Japan within the next nine months.
