Hayden Carter sees his Blackburn Rovers contract expire next summer, making this a key season for the centre-back.

The72's James Ray argues that Blackburn Rovers defender Hayden Carter will earn a new contract only if he stays fit. The academy graduate recently returned to Tony Mowbray's starting lineup before the international break, featuring in a 3-1 win over Millwall and a 2-2 draw with Portsmouth. Carter completed his first full 90 minutes in the Championship since March following injury-disrupted seasons.
Ray contends that Rovers' eventual contract decision hinges on Carter's fitness record rather than his ability. Persistent setbacks previously limited the center-back to just 26 league appearances across the 2024/25 and 2025/26 campaigns. If Carter avoids further spells on the sidelines, Ray believes Blackburn Rovers must move to secure his long-term future at Ewood Park.
