‘Encouraging’ display from Boro forward but teammate who looked like he needs a break

Dominic Shaw provided player ratings following Middlesbrough's goalless draw against Watford on Saturday, where Boro had to settle for a point after failing to break down the opposition. Defender Phillips received Boro's highest rating of 8 following a commanding performance at center-back, while Watford goalkeeper Ravaglia was named Man of the Match with an 8 after making several key saves to frustrate the hosts.

Several Middlesbrough starters earned ratings of 7, including debutant Byram, Berhalter, Strelec, and Sarmiento, who Shaw viewed as Boro's most likely route to goal. Winger Amario Cozier-Duberry received a 6 after being substituted at halftime, while substitute Joseph scored the team's lowest rating with a 5 after missing a late chance.
