Will Lankshear for England – Middlesbrough boss Kim Hellberg offers his thoughts on a call-up

Middlesbrough manager Kim Hellberg shared his thoughts on striker Will Lankshear potentially earning a senior England call-up from Thomas Tuchel. With 15 goals scored already this season, the 21-year-old forward has been backed by supporters and teammates for a promotion from the Under-21 squad. While Hellberg joked that he would prefer Lankshear to remain training with Boro, he emphasized that the club takes immense pride in their players representing their national teams.

Tuchel is scheduled to announce his England squad on Friday ahead of upcoming Nations League matches against Czechia and Spain. If selected, Lankshear would become the first Championship outfield player called up to the senior team since Wilfried Zaha in 2012. Lankshear is expected to be fit for Boro's Wednesday fixture against Wrexham, giving him one last opportunity to impress national team selectors.
