South coast derby not just another game – Pack

Portsmouth captain Marlon Pack has stated that the upcoming south coast derby against Southampton is far from just another game. The Blues are set to travel to St Mary's on Sunday for their first Championship meeting of the season against their Hampshire rivals. Pack rejected common phrasing that downplays derby matches, urging his squad to embrace the occasion and seize the chance to become club heroes.

The 35-year-old midfielder noted that Portsmouth must balance passionate intensity with tactical calmness during the match. Last season's Championship encounters between the sides ended in 0-0 and 1-1 draws. Pack, who came through the ranks at Fratton Park before returning in 2022, has made 160 appearances and scored 10 goals across his two spells with the club.
