Southampton uncertainty continues ahead of Portsmouth south-coast derby showdown

Southampton head coach Tonda Eckert faces ongoing uncertainty regarding his availability for Sunday's south-coast derby against Portsmouth. Eckert is awaiting the verdict of an FA Disciplinary Commission following charges related to spying on Middlesbrough, Oxford United, and Ipswich Town last season. He faces potential disciplinary action, including a possible ban, leaving his presence on the touchline unresolved.

Eckert attended the disciplinary hearing on September 24 after being charged with three breaches of FA Rule E3.1. Southampton was previously expelled from last season's play-offs and penalized four points to begin the current Championship campaign. With no official deadline set for the governing body's decision, the club remains in limbo ahead of the rivalry match.
