Southampton’s best-kept secret just blew up on the international stage

Southampton forward Kuryu Matsuki enjoyed a successful senior international debut for Japan in an international friendly against Uruguay on Thursday. Manager Hajime Moriyasu placed the former Under-21 international straight into the starting lineup as a wing-back at Miyagi Stadium in Rifu, Japan.

Matsuki scored the opening goal in the first half with a strike that put the Samurai Blue ahead. Meanwhile, Southampton teammate Cyle Larin prepares for an upcoming friendly with Canada against Chile on September 27.
