The Story in 60 Seconds

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has explained how West Ham United could reduce their reported £3 million compensation payout to sacked manager Nuno Espirito Santo. Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan highlighted that managerial contracts include an obligation of mitigation, meaning the payout decreases if the manager quickly secures employment elsewhere.

West Ham dismissed Nuno after 14 months in charge, leaving 22 months remaining on his fixed-term contract, and confirmed Scott Parker as his successor. If Nuno takes another managerial role before his contract term ends, West Ham will not be required to pay the full remaining severance balance.
