West Ham defender Ezra Mayers earned minutes for the England U20s as Darren Moore's side defeated France 2-1 on Tuesday at the Estadi Olímpic Camilo Cano in Spain. Mayers came on as a 79th-minute substitute for Christopher Rigg to help protect the lead, while fellow West Ham teammate Airidas Golambeckis remained an unused substitute.
England built an early lead through goals from Shumaira Mheuka in the ninth minute and Mikey Moore five minutes later, before Prosper Peter scored for France in the 69th minute.
