Wolves midfielder fires home first international goal after injury comeback

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde scored his first international goal for Haiti in a 2-0 victory over Costa Rica. The 28-year-old opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a strike from the edge of the box before an own goal sealed the Concacaf Nations League win. Bellegarde's performance comes as he continues his recovery from injury, having made two appearances for Wolves prior to the international window.

Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto confirmed he communicated with Haiti manager David Badia Cequier to manage Bellegarde's workload across the break. Bellegarde also featured as a substitute against Trinidad and Tobago. Elsewhere, fellow Wolves midfielder Jordan James made a substitute appearance for Wales during their Nations League defeat against Denmark.
