Wrexham chief executive officer Michael Williamson has insisted the club must be held accountable after being fined £75,000 by the EFL for two breaches of player eligibility regulations.
Wrexham chief executive officer Michael Williamson addressed the club's £75,000 fine from the EFL for two breaches of player eligibility regulations. The English Football League handed down the sanction, with £25,000 suspended, after Issa Kabore and Callum O'Hare were included in matchday squads despite missing required administrative documentation. Williamson insisted that the club must take accountability for falling short of its own standards as operations expand alongside on-pitch ambitions.
According to the EFL ruling, Kabore played against Birmingham City without his Home Office right-to-work documents correctly uploaded, while O'Hare was an unused substitute against Millwall before paperwork was finalized. Williamson confirmed in his matchday programme notes that Wrexham fully cooperated with the EFL, completed an internal review, and strengthened operational processes to prevent similar occurrences.
