The Story in 60 Seconds

Former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Devis Vasquez made his Champions League debut for AS Roma against Manchester United at Old Trafford. The 28-year-old Colombian stepped in following injuries to Roma's top two goalkeepers, including Pierluigi Gollini's late back injury. Despite Vasquez saving an initial penalty from Bruno Fernandes that was subsequently retaken and scored due to encroachment, Roma could not prevent a Manchester United comeback.

Vasquez previously spent time on loan at Sheffield Wednesday during the 2023-24 season before spells at Ascoli, Empoli, and Besiktas. He ultimately signed for Roma on a free transfer.
