Dave Challinor’s first match as Sheffield Wednesday boss will come on Sunday.

New Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Challinor has identified defending transitions as an immediate area to fix following his appointment at Hillsborough. Replacing Henrik Pedersen, Challinor is preparing for his first game in charge against Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup on Sunday, followed by an EFL Trophy tie against Accrington Stanley.
Challinor and assistant coaches Clint Hill and Anthony Sweeney plan to implement swift structural adjustments to clarify roles across different areas of the pitch. While acknowledging that overarching progress is a steady process, Challinor stressed the importance of purposeful possession, playing forward, and turning draws into victories.
