Owls defender was sent off against Blackpool on Sunday…

Sheffield Wednesday have decided not to appeal the red card issued to defender Sil Swinkels against Blackpool. The Dutch defender was sent off by referee Simon Mather during the first half of Saturday's match at Hillsborough. Sheffield Wednesday subsequently conceded an equalizer with nine minutes remaining, finishing the game in a 1-1 draw.
New manager Dave Challinor explained that while he believed the decision was debatable, the likelihood of having the ban overturned was minimal. Consequently, Swinkels will serve a suspension and miss the upcoming FA Cup fixture against Oldham Athletic.
