As he prepares to face his home nation, the Canada manager reflects on his adopted country’s soccer, its prime minister, and its place in the worldPeak leaf hasn’t yet arrived in Montreal but the bursts of gold and butterscotch up…

Canada men's national team coach Jesse Marsch spoke candidly about American culture, geopolitics, and soccer in an interview ahead of facing his home country, the United States, in Saint Paul. Marsch, who recently signed a four-year contract extension with Canada, reflected on American exceptionalism, arguing that citizens in the US have been inundated with propaganda asserting they dominate everything, which causes resentment globally.
Marsch also addressed European football controversies, claiming Manchester City deserve severe punishment and relegation following recent verdicts. Reflecting on his tenure managing Leeds United during the 2022-23 season, Marsch expressed deep skepticism over City's reported financial compliance and player valuations, including the reported £52m fee paid to sign Erling Haaland.
