Canada midfielder Nathan Saliba has quickly integrated into Spanish club Villarreal since joining from Anderlecht on August 25 on a deal through June 2031. The 22-year-old has already started three LaLiga matches under manager Iñigo Pérez and featured in the Champions League, stating that adapting to Spain's patient, technically oriented style has aided his development.
Saliba credited the presence of Canadian teammates Tajon Buchanan and Tani Oluwaseyi for easing his transition at Villarreal. After playing 61 minutes in Canada's 1-0 friendly win over Chile, Saliba hopes to introduce more patience and composure into Jesse Marsch's direct national team system ahead of their upcoming friendly against Peru in Montreal.
