The German Shepherd reportedly clamped down on his leg and would not release its grip as Pennant desperately tried to shield his American Akita…

Former Premier League winger Jermaine Pennant required hospital treatment and may need plastic surgery after being attacked by a German Shepherd in North London. The 43-year-old was walking his dogs when the animal clamped onto his right leg, causing four bite wounds. Pennant credited his own dog, an American Akita named King, with intervening to fight off the attacking animal and save his life.
Following the incident, Pennant's girlfriend Mimmi Montgomery arranged for him to be taken to an emergency department for medical treatment. Pennant later showed his bandaged leg while covering Liverpool's 2-0 win over Brighton, confirming he is taking antibiotics and remains under medical supervision as he recovers.
