‘I had goosebumps’: Pochettino ‘so proud’ as USMNT teenagers run riot in 4-1 Peru victory

Mauricio Pochettino praised his youthful United States men's national team after an emphatic 4-1 victory over Peru at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando. The manager gave senior international debuts to 11 players, including eight teenagers who featured throughout the match. Justin Ellis opened the scoring four minutes in from a Gio Reyna free kick before Peru's Gianluca Lapadula equalized midway through the first half.

The USMNT took command after the break as Malik Tillman converted a penalty won by Zavier Gozo, followed by debut goals from Julian Hall and Sebastian Berhalter. The match also saw 16-year-old Cavan Sullivan become the youngest player to earn a senior USMNT cap since Freddy Adu in 2006.
