USMNT beats Peru in first match since World Cup; How did Cavan Sullivan look in his debut?

The U.S. men's national team opened its 2030 World Cup cycle with a 4-1 victory against Peru on Saturday at Inter.co Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Debutants Justin Ellis and Julian Hall each scored, along with goals from veterans Malik Tillman and Sebastian Berhalter. The match was the first for head coach Mauricio Pochettino and the squad following their elimination by Belgium at the World Cup.

Eleven players earned their senior international debuts in the match, including 16-year-old Cavan Sullivan, who became the youngest starter for the USMNT this century. Ellis opened the scoring in under four minutes by converting a free kick from Gio Reyna in his hometown debut.
