Head coach Mauricio Pochettino fielded a heavily rotated, youthful squad, with Justin Ellis scoring the decisive goal in the first half off an assist from Alex Freeman despite heavy early pressure from Jesse Marsch's side.
Goalkeeper Brian Schwake preserved the clean sheet by pushing a Luc de Fougerolles volley onto the crossbar in the second half. The physical match featured a combined 43 fouls, securing the USMNT's fourth consecutive victory ahead of the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals against Haiti in November.
