FAW chief questions Infantino’s Fifa reform claims

Football Association of Wales chief executive Noel Mooney has disputed claims that FIFA is planning major structural reforms. Although FIFA president Gianni Infantino proposed an external review via a letter to national associations to suggest improvements, Mooney stated the document focuses solely on consulting processes around strategic projects rather than reforming the organization itself.

Mooney also reaffirmed that the FAW will not endorse Infantino's bid for a fourth term in March 2027. Criticizing past plans to involve private equity in the World Cup, Mooney called for FIFA's growing reserves to instead be distributed directly to federations for grassroots development.
