Germany and Wales FA presidents question Gianni Infantino’s FIFA reform claims

The leadership of the German and Welsh Football Associations have publicly doubted FIFA president Gianni Infantino's commitment to meaningful reform. Infantino sent a letter to FIFA Council members proposing an independent review of governance regarding strategic projects and consultations with stakeholders. Noel Mooney, chief executive of the Football Association of Wales, argued the letter does not propose real reform of FIFA itself.

Bernd Neuendorf, president of the German Football Association, labeled the letter a transparent ploy to secure re-election in 2027, declaring Infantino has lost credibility. Both associations previously withdrew backing for Infantino following a scrapped proposal to sell stakes in FIFA competitions to private investors.
