Former Netherlands forward Dirk Kuyt is appointed Fenerbahce’s interim coach a week before they face his former club Liverpool in the Champions League.

Former Netherlands and Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt has been appointed interim coach of Fenerbahce. The 46-year-old steps up from his assistant role following the resignation of manager Ismail Kartal, who departed after a 2-1 defeat against Galatasaray. The club confirmed Kuyt will remain in charge until a permanent head coach is hired.
Kuyt takes over a Fenerbahce side sitting fifth in the Turkish top flight, six points behind leaders Galatasaray. His first match in charge will be against Goztepe on Saturday, followed by a Champions League clash against his former club Liverpool on Wednesday, November 4.
