Arsenal have been told summer target Nico Paz can succeed Lionel Messi by becoming the leader of the Argentina national team.
Arsenal transfer target Nico Paz has been tipped by Spanish outlet Diario AS to succeed Lionel Messi as the leader of the Argentina national team. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder scored once and provided an assist in Argentina's 4-0 victory over Bolivia following Messi's announced international retirement.
BBC Sport reports that Arsenal held an interest in Paz during the summer transfer window amid uncertainty over his future. Real Madrid considered triggering a €9 million (£7.7m) buy-back option before selling him, but Como ultimately retained the player for €66 million (£56.3m).
