Barcelona are already preparing for their next transfer window with one priority: strengthening their central defence.

Barcelona sporting director Deco is monitoring four young central defenders to reinforce manager Hansi Flick's backline ahead of the upcoming transfer window. The Catalan club faces an injury crisis with Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, and Xavi Espart all sidelined, forcing Flick to deploy midfielder Frenkie de Jong at centre-back.
Deco is targeting Manchester City's Vitor Reis, Athletico Paranaense's Arthur Dias, FC Twente's Ruud Nijstad, and Ajax's Youri Baas. The 23-year-old Baas is considered a key permanent transfer target who is also being tracked by Real Madrid, though Barcelona may need player departures to accommodate deals under salary cap rules.
