Barcelona set for real test of title credentials after perfect start to 2026-27 campaign

Jason Pettigrove writes that Barcelona face a significant test of their title credentials in October after opening the 2026-27 season with a record eight consecutive victories across all competitions. Under manager Hansi Flick, the club achieved this run despite playing without a recognized center-forward, setting a new club benchmark that eluded past eras under Johan Cruyff and Pep Guardiola.

The writer emphasizes that Barcelona will navigate a demanding stretch of six matches in 21 days across LaLiga and the Champions League, facing opponents including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Betis. Pettigrove highlights squad rotation and minute management as vital factors for Flick, noting that the team emerged from the international break with minimal injury concerns.
