Real Madrid have reached an agreement in principle on a Courtois contract extension, with the one-year deal expected to keep him until 2028.

Real Madrid have reached an agreement in principle with 34-year-old goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois over a one-year contract extension, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano and MARCA. The proposed deal would extend his stay at the Spanish club until 2028, adding another season to his existing contract that runs through 2027. While terms are verbally agreed, the contract has not yet been formally signed.
The one-year extension aligns with Real Madrid's typical strategy of renewing players over the age of 30 on a season-by-season basis. Courtois originally joined Madrid from Chelsea in 2018 for €35 million, winning two Champions League titles and three league titles during his tenure.
