Federico Valverde scored a second-minute stoppage-time winner from long range to earn Real Madrid a 3-2 comeback victory away against AEK Athens. The substitute captain struck after Madrid had fallen behind twice during the match, maintaining a perfect record of four wins from four in the Champions League league phase for manager Jose Mourinho.
AEK took the lead through Koita before Jude Bellingham equalized with a backheel. Stavros Pilios restored AEK's lead in the 75th minute, but Kylian Mbappe leveled shortly after from Denzel Dumfries's cross before Valverde's decisive late strike sealed the win.
