PSG: Nico Williams was in the sights

Paris Saint-Germain was among several top European clubs pursuing Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, according to his agent Félix Tainta. Speaking on the Los Fulanos podcast, Tainta revealed that clubs including PSG, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, and Liverpool sought to sign the Spanish international. Despite significant interest across the continent, the 24-year-old winger ultimately opted to remain in Bilbao, where he is now under contract until 2035.

Tainta acknowledged that a permanent transfer had been considered by the player's camp due to his ambition, specifically referencing discussions with FC Barcelona. However, a move to Catalonia fell through because Barcelona could not guarantee the player's registration amid financial uncertainties. Tainta also emphasized Williams' loyalty to Athletic Club, noting he previously rejected the chance to leave on a free transfer in January 2024.
