France improved its position in fifth place in the UEFA coefficient rankings after securing four wins and three defeats across European competitions this week. A standout 4-2 victory by Paris Saint-Germain over Manchester City was supported by wins for Olympique Lyonnais, Stade Rennais, and AS Monaco, despite losses for Lens, Lille, and Marseille.
The results widened France's lead over sixth-placed Portugal to 3.746 points, reaching a total of 70.296 points. Maintaining fifth spot remains critical for Ligue 1, as it guarantees seven European qualification places for the 2028-2029 season, including three direct entries into the UEFA Champions League.
