Manchester United will reportedly sack manager Michael Carrick if the club suffers a heavy defeat against Aston Villa on Sunday. According to Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke, Carrick remains at risk of dismissal ahead of the upcoming international break, which would offer the United hierarchy an opportunity to make a managerial change following a run of just one win in ten matches.
The report claims Eddie Howe is Manchester United's primary target should Carrick be dismissed, after Aston Villa manager Unai Emery was targeted previously. However, The Athletic's Laurie Whitwell reported that United executives decided to give Carrick until the international break to turn things around, suggesting the club is not currently advancing with any potential successors.
