Chelsea reportedly suffered a 2-0 defeat against Championship club Portsmouth in a closed-doors friendly match at the Cobham Training Centre on October 3. Blues head coach Xabi Alonso used the fixture during the international break for tactical preparation, featuring academy players and squad members recovering from injuries.
The result follows a difficult stretch for Chelsea, who currently sit 10th in the Premier League table after losing 3-0 to Brentford. Alonso's side have gone winless in their last three league outings and will return to Premier League action against AFC Bournemouth on October 10.
