Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has spoken exclusively to football.london about the club's transfer plans, Xabi Alonso and what would be a successful season for the Blues

Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has warned his old club that Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott may not be the complete solution to their midfield issues. Chelsea saw a £64 million permanent bid rejected in the summer, but the club maintains a strong interest ahead of the January transfer window. Scott is also drawing interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, though Bournemouth remains keen to agree on a contract extension.
Johnson praised Scott's potential but noted he still has more to prove before Chelsea make another move. Reflecting on manager Xabi Alonso's early tenure, Johnson argued that Alonso should be afforded time to build Chelsea's project similar to Mikel Arteta's blueprint at Arsenal, as the club aims to push back into the Champions League places.
