Emi Martinez has undergone surgery after breaking his jaw against Everton with a timeframe now put on his return.

Chelsea goalkeeper Emi Martinez faces several weeks on the sidelines after suffering a broken jaw and concussion during a 2-0 victory against Everton. The 34-year-old was stretchered off following a mid-air collision with defender Jarrad Branthwaite. Manager Xabi Alonso confirmed the concussion, while subsequent reports confirmed the broken jaw, leading Martinez to undergo successful surgery.
Martinez announced on social media that his operation went well and suggested he hopes to return in a few weeks, though he is not expected to be fit until at least mid-November. In his absence, 21-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Mike Penders is set to start upcoming fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
