Coventry City striker moves closer to international call as Poland plan for life without Robert Lewandowski

Coventry City striker Ellis Simms has applied for a Polish passport to become eligible for the Poland national team. National team director Adrian Mierzejewski confirmed that the 25-year-old submitted documents to the consulate through his grandmother's Polish heritage. Assistant coach Kibu Vicuna was sent to England to watch Simms in person ahead of a potential call-up.

Poland head coach Jan Urban stated that Simms will be evaluated on form once his passport arrives, noting the team is planning for the future beyond veteran striker Robert Lewandowski. Simms was previously capped by England at the Under-20 level and also qualifies for Jamaica.
