James Street is a 'pinch point' after Everton matches according to fans

Everton supporters have called for improvements to Merseyrail's Wirral Line services after matches, raising safety concerns over severe overcrowding. Season ticket holder Alan Runswick highlighted James Street station as a major pressure point for fans returning to Wirral and North Wales, requesting 15-minute services after matches to ease congestion. Runswick has subsequently been offered a meeting with rail bosses to address the network's match-day travel plans.
Merseyrail stated that dedicated operational plans are enacted for every Everton home match based on expected demand and resources. The operator noted that additional services and station staff are routinely deployed for Sunday and evening games, and confirmed it continuously reviews feedback and passenger demand to meet customer needs.
