Everton may have eventually signed a right-back in the summer but Ainsley Maitland-Niles' position may come under threat after a downturn in performances

Chris Beesley argues that Everton's right-back issues may persist after manager David Moyes missed out on top target Guela Doue, who joined Bayer Leverkusen for roughly £25.5 million (€30 million). Everton had scouted Doue extensively but reportedly faced financial constraints under The Friedkin Group, leaving them unable to complete a permanent transfer before deadline day.
Instead, the Blues signed Ainsley Maitland-Niles for £4 million from Lyon. Beesley highlights that while Maitland-Niles has contributed going forward, several defensive errors have raised concerns about his security in the starting lineup.
