The Story in 60 Seconds

Everton have not defeated Arsenal in front of fans away from home since January 20, 1996, when Andrei Kanchelskis scored an 84th-minute winner in a 2-1 victory. Kanchelskis joined the Blues from Manchester United for a club-record £5 million fee, which football finance expert Kieran Maguire calculated equals £104 million in today's market. Arsenal manager Bruce Rioch attempted to sign the winger before Everton completed the permanent deal.

Everton's only victory at Arsenal since 1996 was a 1-0 win behind closed doors in April 2021 via a Bernd Leno own goal. Across 34 Premier League away matches against Arsenal, Everton have suffered 26 defeats and recorded only two wins. Manager David Moyes has failed to win in 13 visits to Arsenal as Everton boss.
