Former Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles reflects on his five-year spell at Goodison Park, competing with Tim Howard, and honest chats with Ronald Koeman.

Former Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles reflected on his five-year tenure at Goodison Park and his eventual departure to Real Betis in an interview with the Liverpool Echo. Robles originally joined Everton from Atletico Madrid in 2013 under manager Roberto Martinez, going on to make 65 total appearances for the club.
Robles discussed his experiences competing with Tim Howard and navigating managerial changes. Following Martinez's dismissal, Ronald Koeman signed Maarten Stekelenburg and directly informed Robles he would be the second-choice goalkeeper. Robles eventually chose not to renew his contract at the end of his fifth year, seeking a change before moving to Real Betis.
