Former Premier League referee Mike Dean stated that Chelsea's Morgan Rogers should have received a straight red card during Everton's 2-0 defeat at Hill Dickinson Stadium. Rogers, who was already on a yellow card, caught James Garner with his studs near the knee before half-time, but referee Paul Tierney and VAR did not issue a dismissal.
While former Everton defender Joleon Lescott considered the challenge fair, Everton manager David Moyes questioned the decision. Chelsea capitalized on remaining at full strength, securing the victory courtesy of two second-half goals scored by Pedro Neto.
