Key Things to Know
  • A model estimates Everton missed out on £28.9m in merit payments due to Man City's alleged breaches.
  • The theoretical OLBG model projects over £527m in redistributed prize money across the Premier League.
  • No official decision or mechanism exists to retrospectively redistribute prize money to affected clubs.
The Story in 60 Seconds

A data model by OLBG calculates that Everton could have earned £28,944,186 more in Premier League merit payments across seasons covered by Manchester City's financial charges case. The theoretical exercise models hypothetical earnings if Manchester City's league positions were retrospectively removed and other clubs moved up. Liverpool was estimated to have missed out on £24,423,357 in the same analysis.

The figures remain an independent projection rather than an official payout, as the Premier League has not decided to redistribute prize money. Manchester City noted that the independent commission process remains ongoing, while potential inter-club legal claims remain a separate matter following precedents such as Everton's PSR appeal involving Burnley.
