Ipswich Town's upcoming Premier League opponents Manchester City have been found guilty of serious financial breaches.
Manchester City has been found guilty by an independent commission of serious financial breaches of Premier League rules spanning a nine-season period. The findings reveal the club arranged sham contracts with commercial partners to artificially inflate revenues, misstated accounts to regulators, and breached spending limits set by both the Premier League and UEFA.
Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters called the ruling the most significant disciplinary decision in the competition's history. Sanctions remain to be decided, with potential penalties ranging from fines and points deductions to possible expulsion, though Manchester City retains the right to appeal.
