Ipswich Town manager Gary O'Neil said he had to abort his game plan in the second half of tonight's 1-1 home draw against Nottingham Forest.
Ipswich Town manager Gary O'Neil expressed satisfaction with a hard-fought point after his side drew 1-1 against Nottingham Forest at home. Neco Williams opened the scoring for Forest in the 13th minute before Julio Enciso equalized for Ipswich Town prior to halftime. O'Neil acknowledged that his team had to alter their original game plan during the second half in difficult conditions to avoid dangerous transitional turnovers.
Following the tactical adjustment, Ipswich Town adopted a safer and more direct style to withstand Forest's attacking pressure. A major talking point occurred when Ipswich defender Issa Diop received only a yellow card after a VAR review for a foul on James McAtee, a decision O'Neil felt was correct. Substitute Jack Clarke nearly won the match in stoppage time, but Ipswich settled for their first draw of the season.
