Ipswich Town manager Gary O'Neil has explained why he selected Jaden Philogene for his team's most recent home game as the battle for left-wing minutes hots up.
Ipswich Town manager Gary O'Neil has discussed his wing options, explaining why he selected Jaden Philogene to start on the left wing in a recent home win against Fulham. O'Neil highlighted his preference for traditional, out-and-out wingers who keep wide, particularly when Abdul Fatawu was suspended on the opposite flank.
Philogene, who recently returned from a pre-season injury setback, faces competition on the left wing from Daizen Maeda and Jack Clarke. O'Neil noted that while tactical adjustments may be required depending on the opposition, he prefers fielding aggressive, natural wide players in games where his side aims to attack.
