Andy Robertson has spoken openly about just how much the tragic passing of Diogo Jota impacted the Liverpool squad last season

Andy Robertson revealed that Liverpool struggled significantly last season following the tragic death of teammate Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva in July 2025. Speaking on the Stick to Football Podcast, the defender admitted the squad lost their competitive edge and determination while grieving the loss of their close friend and teammate.
Robertson explained that the emotional toll hindered new signings from settling into the heartbroken club amid heavy external criticism. Defending Premier League champions Liverpool ultimately finished fifth in the Premier League table, which led to manager Arne Slot losing his job at the end of the campaign.
