Gunners’ boss also sends message to his squad ahead of daunting Liverpool clash…
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has backed teenager Max Dowman to cope with rough challenges despite recent disciplinary issues. Dowman was shown a straight red card against Fleetwood Town for reacting to a heavy tackle, which Arsenal unsuccessfully appealed. The incident marked the midfielder's second sending-off within a month, having also been dismissed while playing for England's Under-19 team against the United States.
Arteta noted that Dowman has faced rough treatment since childhood and must learn to handle opposing tactics better without reacting. Dowman is suspended for Arsenal's upcoming Premier League match against Liverpool at Anfield, where the Gunners are seeking their first league victory since 2012.
