Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt has been placed in temporary charge of Turkish club Fenerbahce following the resignation of manager Ismail Kartal. Kuyt, who previously served as Kartal's assistant, will oversee the squad for upcoming fixtures, which reportedly include a Champions League reunion against Liverpool in Istanbul next Wednesday.
Kartal resigned after Fenerbahce suffered a 2-1 defeat to league rivals Galatasaray, leaving the club in fifth place. Kuyt's interim tenure begins against Goztepe on Saturday, and reports indicate he is expected to remain at the helm until at least the upcoming international break.
