Liverpool plotting shock re-signing of former midfielder as seven-club battle emerges

Liverpool are reportedly monitoring their former midfielder Tyler Morton ahead of a potential permanent re-signing. The 23-year-old has impressed in France for Lyon under manager Paulo Fonseca, leading six other Premier League sides—including Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Brighton, Newcastle, Sunderland, and Everton—to track his development ahead of the January transfer window.

Morton originally transferred from Liverpool to Lyon in the summer of 2025 in a deal worth up to £15 million, which included a 20 percent sell-on clause for the Reds. He has since made 53 appearances for the French side, scoring three goals, but Lyon's heavy reliance on the midfielder could complicate any potential mid-season transfer.
